I'd to like to know what you guys think or if you can add or even correct a few of my statements. With all the item combos in the game, getting crazy good or crazy bad synergies does happen often, but as someone who usually avoids those bad or poor items, I don't get them nearly as often as NL or others who again, I have no evidence for besides anecdotal. In fact he is likely to throw away a guaranteed win for crazy or hilarious synergies(or re-rolling runs entirely). Again, why do I bring this up? He also consistently takes bad items.

He gets good, amusing, or just straight up powerful runs fairly consistently and even brings up his famous 'NL luck' in his videos. NL is known by his fans to have outstanding luck. Besides anecdotal evidence that I can in no way back up because 'pics or didn't happen', I bring up a popular Issac Youtuber/streamer NorthernLion. I theorize that there is another system in play that secretly rewards people who pick up and/or win games with these objectively poor items. While I'm uncertain if these reductions stack, as you can get multiple special items even without breaking the game, it is a known system inside the game that alters drop rates of items.

When picking up these items, the chance you get another special item is reduced. There already is a system in place with certain items, which are dubbed 'special' items. Why do I bring this up? Well this is where I believe the hidden Karma system is placed. There are hundreds, around 500 to be more accurate, of items each ranging from really powerful to useless. The item diversity of this game is also staggering. Each floor has one item room and one boss room which you obtain these power-ups.
